We Invite Community Members to Help with Family Nature Days and Work Days

Family Nature Days occur monthly May through September. Sign up under Education on the Contact page and express your interest in setting up, helping with activities, leading an activity. You can suggest other ideas you may have during fall and winter planning.

PAC Work Days occur monthly March through October. Sign up under Environment on the Contact page and be ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch right in clearing debris, removing invasive plants and spreading existing seeds.

For you early birds, there will a 7:30 a.m. migrating bird walk at West Ridge Nature Center, led by Jill Niland from our Park Advisory Committee and the Chicago Ornithological Society. The other Family Nature Day activities begin at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. Sample activities include making bird feeders and eagle finger puppets as well as checking out touch and feel bird-related artifacts from the Department of Natural Resources. We expect our second event to be as fun and successful as the first one.
